Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Is Small Steps Ballet for girls and boys?

A. Both boys and girls are welcome at Small Steps Ballet. The Kinderballet programs are gender neutral or can be adapted accordingly.

Q. Can I watch my childs class each week?

A. Mummy & Me classes require mum or a carer to participate in the class with their little one. Tots is an independent class where mum/carer stay on premises and wait in another room. This helps the children learn independence and improve focus with minimal distractions. Mum/carer can watch child’s first class/trial lesson. If child is suffering separation anxiety, mum/carer can stay in the room until the child’s confidence develops. Open week is the last week of each term and everyone is welcome to watch class.

Q. Does Small Steps Ballet offer make up classes if my child misses a class?

A. You can arrange with the Small Steps office for your child to attend a make up class if he/she was absent on their usual ballet class. Make up classes must be booked in with the office prior to attending the make up class and are based on availability and restricted to Small Steps Ballet locations and Kinderballet by bookings only.

Can I get a refund if my child misses class or decides not to return for the rest of the term?

No refunds or discounts are given on term fees for non attendance or withdrawal from a class or the term. Make up classes can be arranged with the Small Steps office.

Q. Does Small Steps Ballet offer free trials?

A. Mummy & Me classes have a 3 week trial process. These trials are charged at $51 for 3 trial classes, plus $7 termly accident insurance. Invoice is to be paid prior to attending first trial. The remainder of the terms fees are invoiced separately after the trial classes.

Tots first class trial is charged at $20 and is invoiced before the trial. If enrolling, the $7 termly accident insurance fee and the remainder of the terms fees will be invoiced separately after the trial class.

Q. Is there a concert at the end of the year?

A. Small Steps Ballet offers the opportunity to participate in a ‘Presentation Day’ on the last class of the year. Children display their Term 4 classwork at their usual class and venue. An extra fee is added to Term 4 fees which covers the costs for each child to receive a medal and a costume to dance in and take home. This is an optional event. Details and costs associated with Presentation Day will be released in Term 3.

Do you offer family discounts?

At Small Steps Ballet, we offer a family discount of 15% off when enrolling more than 1 child.
Accident insurance is charged per family, per term.

Q. What can my child wear to class? Is there a set uniform?

A. Small Steps Ballet has no set uniform. Our emphasis is on learning to dance and having fun in whatever the child feels comfortable wearing. Children can also dance in bare feet or ballet shoes.
